Week 5 | Day 4 | Letting Go and Letting God

Command:

Beware of Pride. Matthew 6:1

Read:

“Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.” Matthew 26:39 (NIV)

Reflect:

As I sat in the dimly lit church, tears welled up in my eyes, and my heart grew heavy. I remembered a time in my life marked by intense struggle and uncertainty, when I grappled with a decision that seemed insurmountable.

Matthew 26:39 provides a vivid portrayal of a pivotal moment in Jesus' life. Falling to the ground in prayer, He implored, "My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me; yet not as I will, but as You will." This scripture underscores the profound surrender Jesus displayed as He faced His impending crucifixion.

Similarly, I once confronted a tough choice, necessitating the surrender of my desires and fears to God's will. Echoing Jesus, I prayed earnestly for guidance and fortitude, seeking alignment of my will with God's. In that act of surrender, I encountered peace and clarity.

React:

This week, take a moment to reflect upon God's will when making decisions, and actively pursue His guidance in prayer. Through embracing humility, you can uncover a profound sense of peace and purpose in your everyday journey.

Pray:

Heavenly Father, in moments of uncertainty and struggle, help me to surrender my desires to your divine plan. Grant me the strength and clarity to say, "Not my will, but Yours be done." In this surrender, may I find peace and comfort in You.
