Day 2 | God Met Me in the Hurriedness of Life

Command:

For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT)

Read:

But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. 2 Corinthians 4:7-9 (NIV)

Reflect:

I was running a thousand miles an hour with no signs of stopping. I was a full-time working mom, going through a divorce as a result of my unfaithful spouse and any spare moment I had, I spent at the gym. Needless to say, my priorities were out of whack. I was doing what I always did best, put a smile on and tuck any difficult emotion under the rug. In the midst of that season, God showed up in His own special way. In the course of 8 months, I was involved in a major car accident where I sprained my neck, I broke my tailbone during a CrossFit workout and was battling a cancer scare. When God showed up, he told me that in order to heal, I needed to feel and he asked me, “How will you do this running a thousand miles an hour?” God knew I was lost. He knew I was struggling with depression from a broken home and broken body and yet, he met me in the center of it all. He gave me the power I needed through his grace and love. He helped me slow down, be still enough to hear his voice and refocus my priorities. His plans were always and still, are greater than my own.

React:

Where in your life do you need to slow down and accept the rest that God wants to provide?

Pray:

Lord help us hear the quiet of your voice so that we may be filled with your unending love.
