Day 4 | I am dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus

Command:

Read:

Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God. In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Romans 6:8-11 (NIV)

Reflect:

As someone who has sinned a lot, it’s hard to wrap my brain around the fact that I’m fully freed and forgiven of my sins. But the truth is that God has chosen to send his Son to die for my sinful nature so that I can live with him forever, fully clean and pure. This is something that’s beyond my understanding, but it’s the truth.

We must remember that Christ’s resurrection was not just a physical event but a spiritual one as well. Through his resurrection, we have been given new life and are empowered by his Holy Spirit to live a life that’s pleasing to God. We’re no longer bound by the power of sin and death but have been set free to walk in the fullness of God’s grace and love.

React:

How does the truth of Christ’s resurrection empower us to live a life that pleases God? In what ways do we still struggle with sin, and how can we lean on Christ’s resurrection power to overcome it? What practical steps can we take to walk in the fullness of God’s grace and love each day?

Pray:

Dear God, we pray that you continue to reveal yourself to us and draw us closer to you. May we walk in the fullness of your grace and love and may your resurrection power transform our hearts and minds. Thank you for the gift of new life that we have through your Son, Jesus Christ. We offer this prayer in his precious name. Amen.
